Vorro participates in FHIR Connectathon 25

Vorro is proud to participate as a track lead for this fall’s virtual HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Connectathon 25. The conference is three days (September 9-11) of hands-on FHIR development and testing. It provides a great opportunity for implementers and developers to gain experience developing FHIR-based solutions. Vorro has participated previously in the electronic Long-Term Services and Supports (eLTSS) track, furthering the exchange of data generated during the planning and provision of long-term services and supports, and is for data commonly found on LTSS service plans. This year’s focus will be to develop and define a Post-Acute FHIR based Order (PAO) for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Home Health Services. It will aim to facilitate order exchange between the ordering provider and the DME supplier or the Home Health Agency. 

FHIR defines a web application programming interface (API) for health data exchange. Health Level Seven International (HL7) developed this strategy to enable integration and connectivity between different players. The HL7 FHIR Connectathon allows participants to come together several times each year. There, they can work alongside vendor peers, healthcare providers and administrators, and the individuals and organizations who actually wrote the HL7 FHIR specification. This allows industry application developers to practice interoperability in a controlled setting. As a result, vendors can test, come to a resolution, and inform the specification evolution to enable true interoperability.

The exercise aims to improve the quality of the FHIR specification by implementing, testing, and connecting it to others’ software. For three days, multiple vendors will put the Vorro solution to the test. This event is one of the many ways Vorro stays current and relevant in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Vorro is positioning its clients to leverage the FHIR standards for not only this use case but many others. FHIR is the future of data exchange, and we are prepared to meet this need in the market today.
